The more you practice cutting with the hot wire foam cutter the better your cuts will become. As a practice exercise I tried to make some foam patterns of the city logo...I work in St Cloud., its 100 years old and I thought a casting of the logo could be cool.
I printed out the logo on some regular paper and then transfer to some sheets of pink foam. I traced out the pattern with a sharpie pen ( type of magic marker type pen) and tried to fit as many pieces as possible on each foam sheet.

I made multiple copies of each piece and set about cutting them out with the foam cutter. After a lot of foam cutting the fumes started to get evident so I opened the garge door more for ventilation...probably a good place for a small fan.
Some of the pieces cut out. At this point they are about 1 inch in thickness. I will setup a wooden fence and make a tall cut, thus making two pieces from each of the cutouts.

Here some of the foam pieces have been cut down to about 3/8 inch thick and I am mocking up how the piecs will lay against each other when I mount them.
A really difficult piece for me is anything with lettering. Here I have traced out the city name onto the foam piece...
And this is what it turned out after some pain staking foam cutting....not what I need...I will keep looking for a better way to make lettering.
